Selling Your Car
All of them, genuinely. Sedans, hatches, wagons, utes, vans, 4WDs, light trucks, even the odd motorhome. Age, mileage, and condition don't rule anything out — they just shape the price. See how it works on our sell my car page.
Four things: what it is, what state it's in, what its parts are fetching, and what scrap metal is trading at this week. Rough shells start around $300; sought-after vehicles in good order can reach $12,000. A quick call gets you a number with no obligation attached.
Yes. Lapsed warrants and cancelled registrations are completely normal for the vehicles we buy. We file the deregistration and ownership paperwork with Waka Kotahi ourselves, so there's no admin left on your plate.
Photo ID, plus rego papers if you have them. Lost the papers? We can usually verify ownership another way and still complete the sale on the day.
Collection & Removal
Ring 03 668 7220 or send the online form, get your cash quote, and pick a time. The truck arrives, the driver pays you, the vehicle leaves. Read more about free car removal — the whole visit typically runs about twenty minutes.
Everywhere in Southland, yes. Invercargill city, Bluff, Winton, Gore, Riverton, and every rural address between — no tow charge, no fuel levy, no distance penalty. The quoted price is exactly what you receive.
Within Invercargill city, often the same day you call. Outlying towns are usually covered within a day or two as our trucks do their regional runs. If timing is critical, say so — we can usually juggle.
All of it. Bluff, Winton, Gore, Riverton, and everywhere else across the region — see our Southland coverage page. If you can post a letter from there, we can collect a car from there.
Payment & Pricing
Cash, at the vehicle, before it's loaded. If you'd rather have a bank transfer for a larger amount, mention it when you accept the quote and we'll sort that instead.
None. Payment happens at the handover, full stop. There's no processing window, no cheque to clear, and no 'accounts will be in touch'.
Only if the vehicle differs materially from how it was described — a missing engine nobody mentioned, for instance. Describe it straight and the phone quote is the final figure, with nothing deducted for towing or paperwork.
Vehicle Conditions
Very. Non-runners make up a huge share of our purchases. The truck carries winch gear for vehicles that can't move under their own power, and the pickup still costs you nothing.
Yes — write-offs, crash damage, flood damage, and fire damage are all buyable. Whatever the insurer decided, the vehicle still contains parts and metal with real value, and we'll pay for that.
There's no such thing for us. Southland's salt air and wet winters produce some spectacularly rusty vehicles, and we buy them every week. Even a shell that's more oxide than steel has scrap weight worth paying for.
Environment & Compliance
Into a proper recycling stream. Fluids are drained through licensed disposal, usable parts are recovered, and the body is crushed and shredded so its metals can be reclaimed. Our scrap car page walks through the whole process.
Done properly, it's the opposite — the harm comes from vehicles left rotting outdoors, leaking oil and acid into soil and waterways. Professional recycling contains the contaminants and recovers the materials. In a province defined by its rivers and estuary, that difference matters.
We do, as part of every purchase. The transfer and deregistration are lodged with Waka Kotahi after collection, and from that point the vehicle is entirely off your record — no letters, no fines, no loose ends.
